Inclusive development
Why inclusive development?
When all groups of people contribute to and share the benefits of development, the effects are astounding. Involving communities and mainstreaming disability issues within these communities is an important part of creating an inclusive society. Opportunities to create synergies with local leaders and utilise local resources are often overlooked, but community leaders such as traditional healers, birth attendants, and elders are close to communities and can serve as the link between the government services and the local populations.
All of OneFamilyPeople’s projects reflect our commitment to establishing a more inclusive society. Wherever possible, we build on existing structures and recognise and empower community-based organisations (CBOs). We design our programmes and services to include both abled and disabled persons so that everyone in the community can play an equal role.
